K9 Scout

K9s are an important part of law enforcement and help to keep our communities safe. Advanced training is needed for all members including K9s. According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, K9 Scout of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in New York died during a training exercise on January 18, 2018.

K9 Scout was training with other canines when he got a ball as a reward. It became lodged in his mouth. His handlers jumped in to give him aid and tried to save him. They took him to a veterinary hospital where he later died. K9 Scout was a member of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for three and a half years. He was trained in explosives detection, handler protection, and tracking.

We offer our sincere condolences to K9 Scout’s handler and the entire Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Please show your support by leaving a comment below.
